My Favorite News Sources
Posted by Tammi Williams on Aug 13th 2026
Several of my friends and family have been encouraging me to limit my news and social media intake. I like to stay informed because this is not a time to turn away from what's happening in this country and around the world, however, it can be overwhelming.
I work from home and I am taking in bad news all day long, but I'm going to listen to my friends and family and do with they suggest. I will do my best to limit my news intake from only the following sources:
Democracy Now
ProPublica
404 Media
The PBS NewsHour
Assembly Required with Stacy Abrams
The New York Times
Planet Money
The Joy Reid Show
Speaking of The Joy Reid Show, you must watch this episode. Pay close attention to Joy Ann Reid's interview with Nikhole Hannah Jones and Kimberley Crenshaw. Pay extra, extra attention to when the conversation turns to how mainstream media is complicit in this new push of anti-Blackness we are currently experiencing. Pay attention because it's really happening and it's happening for a reason. Scapegoats are being created for a reason. They are starting with immigrants and Trans people. They will move on to dissidents, removing the voices of people who oppose them. They will scare people into silence. We can still change this.
And then watch Tiffany Cross' interview with the parents of Nolan Wells and the lack of urgency of law enforcement in the state of Mississippi to investigate when his parents reported him missing.
There has been a spree of Black people ending up dead in mysterious circumstances.
So that's why I will keep watching the news, but I'm limiting my intake. People are easier to control when they're in a panic or unaware of what's happening in the world. Easier to divide and conquer.
