Moving off Meta

Moving off Meta

Posted by Tammi Williams on Jan 11th 2025

A few days ago, I posted this photo on Instagram after learning about Meta’s plans to shut down fact-checking and replace content moderation with “community notes.” It feels like a clear shift to align with certain powers-that-be, and honestly, it gave me pause.

While I’ve enjoyed connecting with so many of you on Instagram and Threads, this news felt like the push I needed to make a change that better aligns with my values and goals. So, I’ve decided to step away from Meta’s platforms and start focusing on something more intentional: building a deeper connection with my community on Patreon.

Here’s the truth: Instagram has never felt like the best place for me to share everything I’d like to. Personal safety, privacy, and protecting my creative ideas have always been concerns. On top of that, I often find myself scrolling in the early morning hours when I can’t sleep—a habit I know could be replaced with something more fulfilling and productive.

This shift is about more than just leaving Instagram. It’s about investing in time better spent and creating a space where I can share more openly with people who are choosing to be part of this journey with me.

That’s where Patreon comes in.

Patreon feels like the right place to grow a more meaningful connection with you all. I’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes exclusives, sneak peeks at new designs, and updates about what I’m working on—all in a way that feels more thoughtful and intentional.

For now, subscribing to my Patreon is free, and I’d love for you to join me there. In the future, I’ll introduce membership tiers with special perks, but right now, I’m focused on building the foundation for this new space.

And here’s where you come in: I want to know what you want to see! I’ve created a poll on Patreon where you can share your thoughts. Whether it’s design inspiration, tutorials, studio tours, or something else entirely, I’d love to hear your ideas.

If you've read this far, I ask you to do two things. Subscribe to my newsletter and go on and give my Patreon a look.

Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more details about what’s in store—including sneak peeks of what I’ve been working on during my travels in Italy and France. Trust me, there’s a lot to be excited about!
