Google Gemini mentioned "The Great Projection" when I asked about a propaganda tactic, then erased the output. Weird.

I was watching Wahajit Ali and Gil Duran, the podcaster from The Nerd Reich and he mentioned a propaganda term called "Accusations in a Mirror." I googled the term and learned that it is an effective tactic in which someone accuses their advesary of the crimes they themselves are committing or plan to commit. I also learned it was a tactic that was used to ignite and fuel the Rwandan genocide.

I've been mulling that over for a few days and as I hear snippets of what's in the Epstein files it occurs to me that a lot of the things coming out in the files were things certain prominent people were accused of doing. I believe Hillary Clinton was accused of running a pedophila ring. Turns out somebody was running a pedophilia ring. It was Jeffrey Epstein and the current "president" is in the files tens of thousands of times that we know of so far. If that's not wild enough for ya... that he is still the President is the wildest thing to me.

I've been reading Clay Cane's excellent book Burn Down My Master's House and as I am reading I am confronted with facing and remembering how Black women who were enslaved were subjected to rape. Their owners benefited from any children born of the rape. Rape profitted them.

And yet, Black men were labeled the rapists and the one's to watch out for.

Accusations in a Mirror.

I've been thinking about why the tactic is so effective here in America. In an effort to understand more about it, I turned to Google Gemini. Roll your eyes. Go ahead. But I like to give these bots some historical context because they were programmed by people for whom all the -isms of the world are never a factor. I've done this with Claude and ChatGPT. I figure it can't hurt to give the machine some more information it may not have because our story is being erased. If they're flooding the zone with lies, we can flood the zone with the truth. The machines are programmed to take in every word and spit it out again. Let's give it some new words and some new stories. The whole truth. I also know this could be defeated by more programming, but doing it makes me feel in control of something. Like making masks did during the pandemic.

In a funny way, I see it as a continuation of my old job. I used to fix computers. I was tech support.

And yes, I am aware that the master's tools won't save us. But this is my little act of resistence. Kind of like throwing sand in the gears. We are in a moment when we might be able to use those tools against the people who want to keep us all low.

And before you scream at me about data centers, yes, I'm aware that they're putting these data centers in Black communities, extracting all of the natural resources of water and polluting the air. But I also know that think we should seriously question these companies supposed need for so much electricity because Deepseek, a Chinese company, proved that LLMs don't require the resources American companies are claiming they need. Why are we not asking for that kind of accountability? Why is this industry being supported if they're wasting so much money if we're still DOGE'ing here. That's a question for our congressional and local leaders. If American companies are so good at this and so deserving of so much investment, why are Chinese companies able to produce their models at a fraction of the cost? I think some of our leaders have been scammed, which means you and me have also been scammed. And I'm just going to point out that Bill Gates is in the Epstein Files and Microsoft, the company Gates founded, was an early investor in OpenAI.

We are in a narrative war. People's minds are being hijacked on purpose.

I started out by asking why the Accusations in a Mirror tactic is so effective in America. I am including the whole output for transparency. When I first started using Gemini, I asked that if it ever wanted to recommend further reading, it should include a list of diverse voices on the topic. It took diverse to mean racially in most cases, as you'll see.

Here's where it gets weird

Accusations in a Mirror and The Great Projection

I was very intriged by the phrase so I asked about it. It was starting to explain "The Great Projection" and then it erased it all as I was starting to read it — I got about half a sentence in — and wrote the following:

Accusations in a Mirror and The Great ProjectionAccusations in a Mirror and The Great ProjectionAccusations in a Mirror and The Great ProjectionAccusations in a Mirror and The Great Projection

I asked this question because that response seemed kinda gaslighty, I dare say. Because I never used the phrase "The Great Projection". The AI presented it to me. I'd never heard of it. I had been asking about Accusations in a Mirror, remember.

Mind you, the guardrail triggered when I asked "what is the great projection? Is that a thing people know about." I didn't ask who is behind it until it erased the output and told me it couldn't answer. So it's inaccurately recounting what happened in this conversation.

The conversation ends with this:

Why are there Guardrails on The Great Projection

I have no way for you to comment directly on the blog, but I would love to hear what people who work in AI think about this. Is this normal behavior? Or is The Great Projection really some other shit we have to worry about? It kinda seems like the LLM let some information slip.

Or maybe it's about elections? Who knows. Nothing that happens would suprise me. Because now we can see with our own eyes what happens when depravity is left unchecked for generations. See the Epstein Files.

Accusations in a Mirror has been the propaganda tool white supremacy since the invention of race based slavery and the genocide of Indigenous people in America.

Regardless of whether or not there is such as thing as The Great Projection, we should familiarize ourselves with the propaganda tactic because it seems to be the modus operandi of the current regime. The Accusations in a Mirror tactic was used to fuel the genocide in Rwanda. JD Vance went on Joe Rogan and said empathy is a sin. This is a deadly and dangerous combination.
