4am Thoughts: What if AI is a scam

Was listening to a few podcasts this week about scams. So if crypto is a scam (especially meme coins) and there are entire factories set up to run scams on people, and scams in the tech world are not unheard of... and raising investment money on a grand idea that hasn't been proven yet seems to be allowed to a point, but then you have to deliver. What if AI is a big scam? The tech companies keep insisting that the technology will eventually be able to do our jobs better than us while at the same time, pushing it into every app we use for work and pushing it onto students and into schools. What if the point is for the technology to make us just dumb enough so that the machines doing our jobs better becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy?
All while using everything we do in those apps and everything we post online, to train it. It's kinda dehumanizing, isn't it. Because it all comes down to a person's value as a thing to perform a task and nothing else matters in that equation.
